More Information | Rate Accuracy of This Model
Surfline's LOLA Swell Model is the ONLY global swell model that can separate individual swells to accurately calculate surf heights for any location on Earth. Every surf spot will only have a limited range of swells that produce good surf at that location. Compare the LOLA swell forecast with a spot's "Optimal Conditions" information and your own local knowledge to score the best surf.
The "Swell Rose" above is the only one of it's kind in the world. This shows the directions of all the incoming swells
(N=0° East=90° etc). If you mouse over the swell rose you can see detailed raw numbers of the underlying swells.
US Weather data comes from the WeatherUnderground array of personal weather stations. Data is near realtime. International weather comes from LOLAs high resolution models or WUG where possible.
Tides are generated using the most excellent Xtide system.

Think there’s no ‘EC’ in “team”? Think again. At the end of the last week’s Surfing America USA Champs, seven Right Coast rippers made the Pac Sun squad, representing all three regions: Fisher Heverly, Balaram Stack, Evan Geiselman, Quincy Davis, Keenan Lineback, and Cam Richards – plus – freshly crowned under-14 girls champ, Nikki Viesins. (She’s not alone, either, as four more hometown heroes won their divisions: Cody Leutgens (Masters), Kate Easton (Girls Longboard); Kayla Beckman (Women’s Longboard); Dylan Andrews (Junior Longboard); Ty Roach (Men’s Longboard.) Congrats everyone. And for full coverage, click here.
On Aug. 28 Surfrider Central Long Island will show their final Tunnel Session in the Gilgo Tunnel. Starts with a beach clean-up at 5pm with a free movie to follow. (Be sure to bring a beach chair.)
Be in Sea Isle City, Aug. 29-30 as the top youth competitors in the country descend upon Sea Isle City for the Oakley Pro Junior presented by Heritage.
And join Jersey Shore Surfrider for "Endless Summer" Fest on Aug. 29 at Joey Harrison’s Surf Club in Ortley Beach as they show Endless Summer and other Bruce Brown films with part of the proceeds benefiting the chapter. Bands include: Badfish — a tribute to Sublime — and Passafire. Doors open at 7pm.
Celebrate Labor Day with the 6th Annual Surf Rodeo set for Sept. 1 in Ocean City, NJ. This one of a kind event let’s competitors pick a ping-pong ball from a bucket to determine which board they’ll ride. There will be a cage full of old school boards to consider: single-fins, twinnies, bonzers, quads. The Bullriders (Single Fin Long Boards) division will be the only division you'll need your own board for and will be judged on style and flow. New for this year is the Buckaroos division which will be for the mini groms 13 & Under. Click here for more.
The 2008 Unsound Pro waiting period is set for Sept. 3-7 at Lincoln Blvd in Long Beach NY. This year’s men’s purse is $20,000. They are also planning to hold a Pro Junior, plus tow-at, longboard and women’s events. One major change is they are limiting it to a round of 48 and all man-on -man heats. Needless to say if you plan on attending the event get your entry in early because once it fills up , you are out. Click here for more.
And with a $25k pro purse, it’s never too soon to register for this year’s Belmar Pro, set for September 11-14.
Props to everyone who joined Keith Malloy, Darrick Doerner and Gerry Lopez and participated in last week’s SEA paddle for Autism awareness. It was grueling, but it was worth it. Click here for full coverage.
And, finally, join lifelong surfer Ralph Williams as he documents a full hurricane season between Nova Scotia to Florida from now ‘til Dec. 1 – all while raising funds for injured service personnel. Click here to follow along and leave a message – or a donation.
