Meanwhile, the summer season draws an equal number of pros and promo types – if not this week then quite soon. (Just see below.) And for a look at which homeboys got the best shots at a championship title, click here. (Hint: they share a name — but not the last one.)

Your homebreak is under attack. You just don’t know it yet. Over the coming
years, increased coastal crowding and development will put every surf spot at risk. Fortunately, you can act now in its defense. Go to Surf-First.org and fill out the most comprehensive demographic survey in US history so we can fight any battle from Fernandina to the Florida gulf. And for the complete story on Surf-First’s long-term vision, click here.

And don’t forget the fight that affects every break and coastal economy: offshore drilling. Contact your Senators, State Reps and Governors and tell them it’s time to explore for fresh energy solutions – not petroleum. And go to Nottheanswer.org for updates on this issue and ways to automatically contact your politicians.

What’s the best part of a surf trip? That giant excess baggage fee the airlines pork you with on both sides, right? Wrong! Well, stop bitching and do something by signing this petition.

Help Make Surfboards More Sustainable with the Surfboard Cradle-to-Grave Project. Surfboards are notorious for the pollution they generate; interest is growing to design a board from "green" materials, but without a life cycle assessment (LCA) of existing polyurethane and epoxy surfboards, it is impossible to do so. The Surfboard Cradle-to-Grave Project is developing the first-ever LCA of a surfboard, to fill this information gap. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=FAeca1eH6GmpeGKpMlzvtQ_3d_3d

You can help out the Project by filling out this survey, describing
your surfing habits and board quiver; the survey will take less than
10 minutes to complete.
