SURF REPORT
Hey, this is Schaler with the report for Friday afternoon at 1:25pm.
SURF:
3-4 ft. +
waist to shoulder high and fair conditions.

PM REGIONAL OVERVIEW: Onshore flow is putting a decent bump/texture to the surf this afternoon as our WNW and SW swells slowly ease. Better breaks through the region are good for knee-waist-chest high surf, with plus sets for top exposures. Look for the dropping tide to help out those breaks that like the lower tide.

This morning's dawn patrol: Clean peaks, with a few lined-up, fun looking corners on offer. Occasional plus peaks.

WEATHER:
Partly cloudy with SSW winds 4-8kts.
NORTH ORANGE COUNTY'S REGIONAL OVERVIEW:
Dense coastal fog through the region is making it difficult to get a good look at select breaks this morning. Our WNW(280-300) swell is slowly starting to ease however as small SW swell energy holds. This mix will have most breaks through the region in the knee-waist-chest high zone, with a few larger sets for standout exposures at times. Conditions are mostly clean this morning, but the tide is on the rise to a 5'+ high mid morning, slowing most spots down a notch.
FORECAST SUMMARY:
SATURDAY: The early morning will start out a little slow with mainly old WNW swell. New WNW swell builds through the afternoon with waist-chest high waves at the better breaks and shoulder-head high waves at top breaks late. Small SW swell mixes in the background.
Wind/Weather: S wind early 3-6kts+. Afternoon SW to W wind 5-10kts.
Today's waves are best suited to the  Fatburner.

This month the local surf community lost one of its own. His name was Andrew Mckenzie, but everyone called him Andy. He was a great guy, one of those guys that you always want around, that you could never be mad at. Andy could rip. Busting a 360 with ease and then letting the next few go to friends. He was a quiet guy but I bet everyone who surf's the Newport jetties would recognize him in a heartbeat. He was one of the nicest guys I've ever known and it's a tragedy that his life was taken so soon. He had so much ahead of him.
