Surfline's LOLA Swell Model is the ONLY global swell model that can separate individual swells to accurately calculate surf heights for any location on Earth. Every surf spot will only have a limited range of swells that produce good surf at that location. Compare the LOLA swell forecast with a spot's "Optimal Conditions" information and your own local knowledge to score the best surf.
The "Swell Rose" above is the only one of it's kind in the world. This shows the directions of all the incoming swells
(N=0° East=90° etc). If you mouse over the swell rose you can see detailed raw numbers of the underlying swells.
US Weather data comes from the WeatherUnderground array of personal weather stations. Data is near realtime. International weather comes from LOLAs high resolution models or WUG where possible.
Tides are generated using the most excellent Xtide system.

Jeffrey "Midget" Smith - Legendary Shaper, ASP Judge, Local Surfing Icon, Father & Grandpa - passed away on Saturday, August 23rd, at the young age of 56. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
A memorial paddle out will be held on Sunday, September 7th at the San Clemente Pier in remembrance of Midget. Midget's family would like to extend an op en invitation to friends and members of the community to join them at 3:30PM on the north side of the San Clemente Pier for a eulogy commemorating Midget's life. The paddle out will start at 5:00PM. A friends and family gathering will follow the paddle out on the beach with appetizers and drinks. If you would like to contribute food or drinks to the gathering, it would be welcomed. Once again, our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to all who supported Midget through out his battle with Cancer. Come check out the premiere of Aaron Lieber’s film “The Pursuit” on Thursday, September 11th, at the Regency Charter Centre Cinemas. 2002 Bali bombing victim Steve Webster, a local Newport Beach surfer will be memorialized on the Silver Screen. Artist/ filmmaker David Holzman, along with event producer Adam Grossman, The Surfrider Foundation, Chronic Cantina, Atwater Clothing, Black Flys, The Froghouse, The Greenroom, Sector 9 and Rob Havassy will finally release his long awaited, first of it’s kind, reality movie world premier, ”Echo Beach” The Diary of David Holzman 2001 on Sept 9th 2008 at The Regency Lido Theater in Newport Beach CA at 8:00 pm. The release of the film is in response to the negatively received article in the recent Surfer Magazine Adventure issue Collectors Edition that released August 2008 as a tribute to Steve Webster, the local surfer killed in The 2002 Bali Indonesia terrorist bombing. .Steve Webster is the star of the film and co-stars Steve Cabler who was at Webster’s side but survived the 2000 pound bomb.
