A lot of companies claim to be a family, but spend a couple hours with the team at Sector 9 and you realize that when they say they they're family, they mean it. The "We're a family" mantra in business isn't new, but at a time when job security is at a premium, it's refreshing to see a company actually following through and not just using it as a ploy.

The Sector office isn't what you'd expect out of the aesthetically driven surf industry. But where the Sector 9 office is short on flash, it more than makes up for in personality. You can tell they've been there awhile and have done well to make the building their own -- there's definitely some soul to the place. And though Billabong purchased the company in July of
2008, Sector 9 never went corpo. They're as core today as they were when they developed the first four-foot Baltic Birch pintail. Not to mention they have one of the baddest features you'll ever find at an office (check the slideshow). So we hit up our boy EG Fratantaro, Sector's marketing director, to show us the ins and outs of how they do what they do over at Sector 9.
