That's why they always seem to latch on to the realest rippers to endorse 'em. Like...uh...Kelly Slater. Yeah that guy does the trick. So you've got to think of a better reason to write a kid off than saying he is just getting overhyped by the Man. Of course they hype him--he RIPS. By the way, have you seen his flick? Yeah Surfline! Excellent ratings! Marzo is a flash in the pan boys. Unbelievable talent, but he will sadly never ever qualify and the other guys on the list are all incredible surfers. Just because they don't all have their own profile video or the Quiksilver hype machine behind them doesn't mean they don't rule. All you haters need to stop suckling at the industry teet! Can we get these ratings more often???

Young Ball Stack is really taking surfing too its limits. Id say he is one of the most innovative, and aggressive surfers on the market; he is one to keep our eyes on...

Jordy rips harder than any of these guys, Clay and Julian are sick but don't have as much power as Jordy.

Watch out for Saffa 'underdog', Dale Staples in the near future! He took out the Rip Curl Junior at Bells earlier this year.

Why are these ratings only done Quarterly? You guys should have them way more often - like monthy to accurately reflect everyone ripping. Marzo is so overrated and good on a Seppo site for recognizing Stuart and Wilko and Owen and the rest of the Aussie Crew.

I totally agree Marzo should be in the top 5 at least, go watch young guns 3(again). It's almost like he's more in tune with the waves than anybody absolutly SICK. So he doesn't have the "momentum" in contests right now let's wait and see what happens. South Beach 4 LIFE...

tanner is # 1...or at least he should be...i known him for a long time...plain and simple...style + moves + radical surfing...just wait...wct 2010...maybe even 09...lets hope...go tanner..your a legend...at least in my book...and thats a big book..hahaha

Contests or not, Clay Marzo is the most entertaining surfer in the world right now. Actually, his raw style is what is so attractive. And we all know comps aren't scored on pure style and x factor. You can't score art, man!

WHAT!?!@# surfline you crazy....These are all kids and seems your grading on competition performance. Most still have a few years to get in to competition mode. freesurf this list would be way reworked. Marzo for sure DOES NOT belong at the bottom, anyone that has seen that kid do his stuff his way on his watch knows he is purely amazing in skill and style. By far of all the Maui Boys coming up he is hands down the hardest ripper.....oh thats one heck of a crappy pic of Marzo as well.....Aloha
