When we told New York teacher Chris Cordone
that he won Surfline's first annual Vans User Photo Challenge with his photo of a perfect Northeast A-Frame, he was understandably stoked.
Ironically, though, the Pipe Masters finished up in the first five days of its waiting period - the first time in almost three decades it finished so early. So Chris ended up arriving on the North Shore after the ASP circus left - but still managed to score some great conditions, even if the surf wasn't giant. |

He got a couple surfs in, too: "Surfed one good day out at Sunset and the highlight of that was Gerry Lopez was out on a standup and he dropped in on me! " Cordone laughed. "Trip was still awesome. I basically started at Ted's Bakery for breakfast to fuel up and then just walked the beaches all day roaming for waves. Walked from Sunset down to Backdoor and beyond everyday. "In the end it was an amazing time, and I'd do it again given the chance. It just sucked coming back to New York with the snow and cold! No more standing on the beach taking photos in board shorts. It's back to the thick layers!" Until next time, keep submitting those surf shots to photos.surfline.com -- your pic could make our User Gallery of the Month. SURFLINE HOME PAGE MORE SURF NEWS |
