greeny was a classic. me and all my bros are going to miss him in and out of the water in the pleasure point area. if you ever had the chance of seeing greeny doing his patented down the line drop knee you were blessed. some times it looked like he was standing with all his weight on his front foot. try it, its pretty hard. a few times he invited me to his place to hang out. we had baseball and surfing to talk about. what a classic!! i will miss you greeny.

Was out surfing the Hook that day and it was really low tide. Figured someone had slipped and hurt themselves until I could see CPR being administered..caught a wave in and said a prayer for him...we'll miss you Greeny SIP (surf in peace)

R.I.P. I've been surfing with him forever at the Point and never knew his name till I saw his pic here. There's alot of people like that around SC. One story... I remember he had a car with a bunch of giant BG stickers in the late 80's when Marcel started repping the stuff.

I did not know him but i can relate,my condolences to family and friends. I am a fifty year old surfer and i surf as hard now as i did when i was 25, sometimes i wonder how long i can go like this even though i do my best to stay in shape for the good swells. I also know that genetics may have a different plan for surfing careers. we are a growing segment of the surfin population and i only hope that if it was to happen to me that my friends in the water would know what to do. so get certified!

The paddle out had a great energy, and many people shared their experiences, funny stories, somber memories, and happy smiles at remembering a friend, and one of the pieces of the crazy culture we enjoy on the point. Thanks for your time with us, Mike.

I talked to Mike every day at work. He was wonderful. Last time I saw him at UCSC, he kept wishing me well as if to say good-bye. I know he had suffered a heart attack a year ago. Sold me his much loved 9ft stick that John Mel had made for him. Will remember him every time I ride it. Rest in peace, Mike. We will always think of you.
