CONDITIONS: After a bubbly night of donations for the "Raise Money 4 Lyon" fund, SoCal's eclectic surfing community sauntered over for a fun south swell at Malibu Point.

OVERALL PERFORMERS: Lyon Herron, for one. The local kid, who nabbed the contest's very first wave, has battled courageously against rare kind of cancer called Gardner's Syndrome since he was 4 years old, and this annual event was birthed to ease some of the financial burden of treatment. The LA surf scene gets props too. Every generation was represented this weekend, from frothing mini-grom to legendary salt-fixture and beyond -- all out for good times and a good cause.
HIGHLIGHTS: The Malibu Invitational is always a treat, one of the few times each year amatuers, heavies, and legends file out to hang, shred, and grill up some grub. Guys like Benji Weatherly, Brad Gerlach, Danny Fuller, Kyle Knox, Dillon Perillo, Steven Lippman, Allen Sarlo, and Donny Wilson were on hand for the proceedings, and Adam Virs won the big $4,000 purse in the Pro Division.
