The other side of potential women's contest at Swami's
November 24, 2009
PRESS RELEASE

I humbly ask the contest supporters to consider the future ramifications of opening up Swamis to surf contest. This contest will set a precedent that will affect Swamis surfing for the rest of our lives and our children and grandchildren. I grew up with access to Swamis 365 days a year. Do we want to rob the next generation of this gift? Do we really want multiple contest a year at Swamis? If so, how many is acceptable? Is the short term thrill of a contest worth the long term loss of public access? There are 6 contest at Sunset on the North Shore this year. Lower Trestles is basically owned by the Costa Mesa surf industry for half the season. Do we want this to happen to Swamis?
