Surfer's Code Signs Erected at 6 Frequented Surf Spots in Long Beach, NY
July 1, 2009
PRESS RELEASE

Surfer's Code signs have been erected at 6 of the city of Long Beach, NY's most frequented surf spots in an effort to address the hundreds of new surfers that local surf lesson companies have been churning out into local waters each week of the summer season. The goal is to reduce the amount of avoidable injuries and confrontations due to the ignorance of surfing etiquette and lack of respect in the city's line ups. The legendary Nat Young granted Danny Bobis and his LBHS Surf Club permission to use his patented design, and through city approval and the club's fundraising efforts that were aided by local surf shops and surf lesson companies, the signs have become a reality and have also gained the attention of local media outlets.
