Grand Prize Winners of Freestyle's Loop'd.com "Are You Next?" Contest Announced
April 1, 2008
PRESS RELEASE

Freestyle, the original action sports watch manufacturer, announces today the grand prize winners of the "Are You Next?" contest, held in conjunction with Loop'd.com.

For 12 weeks, surfers, wakeboarders, skateboarders, snowboarders, mountain bikers, bmx and motocross riders throughout North America submitted their best action video or photo of themselves in hopes of winning a coveted spot on Freestyle's official athlete roster. Freestyle chose one photo and one video winner weekly, and the 24 total weekly winners then competed amongst each other, through public online voting, rating, and views, for the grand prize.

When the contest first began, the plan was to choose only one grand prize winner, but as the contest came to an end, the level of talent was so immense that Freestyle decided to choose not one but seven grand prize winners. "The response to the contest was overwhelming," said Freestyle Marketing Director, Chad LaBass. "There were so many athletes worthy of sponsorship we felt we needed to open the grand prize up to include more winners. As it turned out the Skate category dominated in entries and performance, which is why 6 of the 7 grand finalist are skaters" A total of 3,331 entries were submitted by contestants, ages ranging from 13 to 50, and roughly 100,000 page views were received on Freestyle's Loop'd.com profile.

Freestyle is pleased to congratulate and welcome the below athletes to the official Freestyle athlete roster:

Tyson Bowerbank -skate, 13 yrs. old, Sandy, UT
Harrison Brooks -skate, 16 yrs. old, Lexington, NC
Alex Longcamp -skate, 14 yrs. old, Aurora, IN
Shon Maloney -skate, 21 yrs. old, Diamond Bar, CA
Ruben Najera -skate, 23 yrs. old, El Centro, CA
Carlos Silva -skate, 16 yrs. old, Winter Park, FL
Hunter Wright -bmx, 22 yrs. old, Lawrence, KS

Each grand prize winner will receive a Freestyle athlete contract including photo incentive bonuses throughout the year, a profile on the team page, and a banner ad with their favorite watch on Freestyle's website. At the end of the sponsorship, Freestyle will review each athlete's performance throughout the year and consider ongoing sponsorship.
