June 19, 2009
PRESS RELEASE
Reef and Surfline have joined forces to determine the best Miss Reef of all time in honor of Reef's 25th Birthday. Out of a selection of 25 of the most infamous Miss Reef images from the last 25 years, it is now the public's turn to decide who is #1. Voters will automatically be entered into a drawing to become a guest judge at a Miss Reef event in Panama. For full details, please visit www.surfline.com and for more details about Reef's history, please visit the micro-site at www.reef.com/25th.
November 26th, 1984, is known as "Saint Reef" day. This fateful day, Brothers Fernando and Santiago Aguerre visited a factory in Brazil and made plans to create Reef. With just $4000 in capital, the brothers set out to design the best active lifestyle sandal on the market. Subsequently, they also set out to differentiate the brand with the introduction of Miss Reef, now an infamous icon in the global surfing community.
Kevin Flanagan, VP of Marketing at Reef states, "One of the major highlights in Reef's rich twenty-five year History is Miss Reef. Flanagan continues, "She has always been at the cornerstone of our brand capturing the exotic and inherent sensuality of the beach. This anniversary was the perfect time to pay homage to her, as well as give back to her loyal fans."
Fans of Miss Reef will get a chance to view the selection, and cast a vote for their favorite Miss Reef. Surfline CEO, Jonno Wells, comments, "Our users have long appreciated Miss Reef's iconic image. We expect this event to be one of our most successful promotions in terms of shear amount of unique and repeat visitors."
