CONDITIONS: Some were claiming that the morning heats on the final day saw better conditions than any ASP World Tour contest last year. We'll just call it six-foot and damn good North Straddie, Queensland, Australia... mate!

OUTSTANDING PERFORMERS: Straddie local and giant-killer, Lincoln Taylor threw down some big moves and a possible hex on former ISA World Junior Champion Julian Wilson. "I couldn't buy a wave," said Wilson. "I think Lincoln put on an island curse on me. He caught all the good waves in the final and dug deep when he really needed to." The win was Taylor's first Pro Junior victory ever and it couldn't have come at a better time. Taylor collected $7000, the most ever won in an Australian Pro Junior, and 3,500 rating points from the 9-star rated ASP Australasian tournament.
HIGHLIGHTS: Aside from Julian Wilson's explosive and consistent surfing which drew boatloads of cheers from the crowds and Taylor's over-the-top upset, it was a Hawaiian who shook things up in the Expression Session. Sebastian "Sea Bass" Zietz put the progress in progressive with the session's best wave and took a cool grand back home to Kauai.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "I'm over the moon," said champion Lincoln Taylor, whose previous best ever result on the pro junior series was a quarterfinal finish. "It's my last year on the series and I really wanted to win this event in front of all my family and friends. I couldn't have asked for a better place to do it. Every surfer dreams about winning an event at their local beach. I can't believe that it happened to me."

RESULTS:

1st: Lincoln Taylor
2nd: Julian Wilson
= 3rd: Mitch Crews, Stuart Kenne
