A photography teacher from East Hampton, New York has won the grand prize in Surfline's 2008 user-submitted photo contest.
The contest worked like this: each month from January through October, Jeremiah Klein, Surfline's Photo Editor, would pick the 20 best images posted in the Photo Channel during the previous 30 days. Next, he would upload them to Surfline.com. Our readers were then called in to select their favorite photo from Miah's picks. That left nine images out of which one would be chosen as the overall winner by the Surfline Edit Team. |

"We selected Chris' photo because the subject matter and composition were the best of all the contenders," explained Klein. "This is the view that excites us as surfers -- walking up the path and seeing your local break going off." As you can imagine, Chris is stoked to have his picture chosen as the grand prize winner, and is even more excited to be headed to Hawaii. "The kids in my photography class are about as pumped as I am; which is great," he explains. "Everyone wants to get packed in the suitcase to go!" "The whole community here is thrilled that I am going on this trip, and I am excited to share the images I take with them."
