15-year old Malibu surfer Lyon Herron has heroically battled Gardner's Syndrome for the past eleven years. Last weekend, he got a little help from his friends.

Renowned watermen, young and old, paddled into smallish waves at First Point for the mid-August Malibu Invitational, a two-day benefit contest aiding Herron's fight against his rare genetic disease. But no push created few problems for these tested salt fixtures--namely Allen Sarlo, who danced his linebacker build across the water to earn the top nod in the Legends division, and Timmy Curran, who put the chokehold on the Pros after flaring up with a set of huge scores in the final round.
At night, the crew hosted some big parties where A-list celebrities mixed with surfers to support the cause. Jeremy Piven, Ben Harper, Paris Hilton, and others gathered at the Malibu Inn for performances by Colin Giles, Shwayze, Tim Curran, and White Star. And at one point in the night Lyon was spotted on stage with a beaming smile on his face, arm firmly wrapped around Hilton.

Other notable surfers in attendance included Kalani Robb, Danny Fuller, Christian Fletcher, Reef McIntosh, Pascal Stansfield, Gavin Beshen and Chris Brown.

Big thanks everyone who gave the time, money, and energy to see this contest through. Here's hoping it will become an annual event!
