Help Keep Santa Cruz Lighthouse Point Surf Museum Open
January 13, 2009
They are going to close down the Surf Museum (http://www.santacruzsurfingmuseum.org/)
at Light House Point (Steamer Lane) in Santa Cruz.
The only surf museum I know of at the most awsome/historic point break in the U.S.
Jessie is the man who works there, he is amazing, and he and this institution should not be closed down, they deserve better and more respect from the community.
My dad surfed from San Franciscon to Mexico in the 40s and 50s, he loved this place, and the museum is the life of our surf community from Mendocino -> San Francisco -> Pacifica -> Santa Cruz -> to Santa Barbara.
When I walk into the museum, it reminds me of my dad, and and his friends, all he/they did for the surf culture and community from San Francisco to Mexico, the innovations and courage it took to be one of the first surfers to surf Ocean Beach, Pacifica, Montara, Half Moon Bay, Steamers, Pleasure, Privates, Capitola to Santa Barbara to Mexico. And the friends he lost on the way, they deserve to be remembered, and the Surf Musem does this.
I do not know what to do, I have gave money, I have told my friends, can you tell your friends to let your friends let the Mayor and the Board of Supervisors of Santa Cruz, and everyone you know, not to close the surf museum down.
Please let the mayor, the board of supervisors, and the community know how you/we feel, we can not stand by and watch our culture be taken away, this place is too special to let it go by the wast side:

It means too much to us, this is too important to let go.
Thank you for all of your help and support, please let me know how I can help....In memory of my dad Tony Souza....
Sincerely....Larry....
