Rip Curl's Save Trestles Benefit Blows Up
September 15, 2008

With the buzz of a climatic final from the Boost Mobile Pro still fresh in the air, Rip Curl teamed up with the Surfrider Foundation to host a 'Save Trestles' Benefit that attracted hundreds to the Rip Curl San Clemente Surf Center this past Friday.

With a major product-packed raffle to help generate some money for the cause, Rip Curl's elite 'CT team on hand, and a unforgettable music performance by living legend and 3x World Champion Tom Curren, the proper elements were in place to raise some resources and much needed awareness for the next Toll Road hearing to be held September 22 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

Highlights of the event included a free catered meal compliments of our bros at Nalu's, the raffling of a signature Mick Fanning DHD, a music performance from local rock band 'Psylicyde', a Rip Curl pro team signing, and enough giveaways to ensure not a grom walked away empty handed.

"It's killer to support this local cause," said 2007 ASP #7, Pancho Sullivan. "It would be terrible to see one of the best waves in the world be jeopardized. I'm stoked to be here doing my part for the cause."

By the end of the night, over $1000 was raised, but more importantly was the awareness raised. For more information on the September 22 hearing, please visit www.savetrestles.org. Also, if you are not a member, please join the Surfrider foundation by going to www.surfrider.org
