Florida Surfing Association presents King O' Jax Surf Challenge
November 20, 2009
PRESS RELEASE
The Florida Surfing Association (FSA) is excited to present the inaugural King O' Jax Surf Challenge on the South Side of Jacksonville Beach Pier. King O' Jax is a premiere Pro surfing competition presented by Paco's Mexican Grill and Surf-ThePier.com. FSA has also partnered with several other companies such as Pilot Industries, a new local up and coming clothing company and surfboard producer out of Jacksonville Beach, FL.
The King O' Jax Surf Challenge is not your standard surfing event; FSA is introducing a new, unique and exciting format where each surfer will surf 5 times, select their opponents and are never eliminated (see attached). The event will have a 3 day waiting period, scheduled for November 27-29th to insure the best surfing conditions possible for the event. Each competitor must be voted in by the general public to secure their contest slot. Over 2,000 votes have been casted. All competitors and spectators, who wish to vote and stay updated, visit www.floridasurfing.org. Surf-ThePier.com will broadcast the event live via internet for those who can't attend the event.
Paco's Mexican Grill will host the events after party, which will include drink and taco specials, free food for competitors, live music, raw event footage, and tons of prizes! To be entered into the drawings, donations can be made at Paco's. All net proceeds will be donated to charity. In addition, the voters who chose the winner of the contest as their King O' Jax will be entered into the grand prize drawing for a free surf trip provided by Nosara Paradise Rentals and Surf Sanctuary. The top 16 surfers receiving the most votes will earn a slot in the competition, however there can only be one King. The surf with the most votes for King will be entered into the competition for free. Currently, Ben Aladics sits at the King O' Jax thrown as he leads Kyle Johnston and Corey Sapp by 20 votes. Other standout names likely to be voted into the event include Cody and Evan Thompson, Ryan Briggs, Asher Nolan and Shane Murray, among many others who will potentially round out the top 16. Voting Polls will be closed November 25th at 5:00 pm so be sure to cast your vote for The King O' Jax and have a chance of winning surf trips and other cool prizes!
