2nd Annual Jetty Clam Jam to Go Off October 18th
September 21, 2008
PRESS RELEASE
Harvey Cedars, NJ, September 20, 2008 - After the success of Jetty's first attempt at a team-formatted contest last year, they immediately began planning for a 2nd annual clam jam. On October, 18th 128 surfers, twice as many as last year, will compete via 2-man teams with one younger surfer and one veteran. The growth of the event stems from including everyone who is a part of the Long Beach Island surf community. The men's and women's brackets can be viewed at Surf Unlimited, The Surf Shack, and Farias Surf & Sport or online at www.jettylife.com/clamjam.
This year Jetty has added a women's bracket using the same team format. The atmosphere on the beach includes a striped bass tournament, clam shucking contest, sandcastle building competition and plenty of schwag, food and drink from a slew of local sponsors.
The success of the event of course depends on the surf so Jetty has locked in no wave dates on October 19th, 25th & 26th. Another exciting part of this year's clam jam is the buffet and concert at Sunset Park after a day of surfing, seafood and fun in the sun. A short walk up Hudson Avenue to the park will transition into 5 local bands playing, a buffet and a slideshow of the day's events by Ann Coen.
