Chris Del Moro will tell you he's weird.
But he's not. On the contrary, the guy's engaging, articulate and down to earth. He's got mainstream good looks, a deep social network in the surfing world, and he's enjoyed professional success on the artist slash designer front creating t-shirt lines for Patagonia, Honolua and Matuse. Weird is not what you'd call Del Moro. Talented is a much better fit.
But Del Moro's real skill lies in the water. The multi-dimensional freesurfer traverses the globe riding waves with an easy, jack-of-all-boards style that garnered him critical acclaim in last year's groundbreaking film Sliding Liberia. In fact, the Florence-raised Del Moro was about to hop across the pond to Italy for the holiday season when we hit him up to see if he'd be game for what we said would be, "a super discreet 12-hour ride along." Yeah, right. How discreet can a dude rolling around all day with a photographer glued to his hip really be? Anyway, call it intrigue, but among other things we wanted to see what Del Moro's definition of weird actually is. You be the judge.
